Cheese Dip-Stuffed Pretzels with Original Smoked Gouda

For the Pretzel Dough:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Cooking spray

For the Filling:

  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 2 cups hot water
  • Coarse sea salt for sprinkling


For the Pretzel Dough:

  1. In a bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. Add salt, sugar, and melted butter to the yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually stir in the flour until the dough comes together.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface until it’s smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl and cover it. Let it rise for 1 hour or until it doubles in size.

Assembling the Pretzels:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Punch down the risen dough and divide it into 8 equal portions.
  3. Roll each portion into a long rope, about 24 inches long.
  4. Flatten each rope and add a tablespoon of Original Smoked Gouda Cheese Dip in the center.
  5. Fold the dough over the cheese dip and seal the edges to form a stuffed pretzel shape.

For the Pretzel Wash:

  1. Dissolve baking soda in hot water.
  2. Dip each pretzel into the baking soda wash.
  3. Place the pretzels on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Sprinkle coarse sea salt over the pretzels for extra flavor.


  1. Bake the pretzels in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  2. Remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes.
